Built in the 19th century, Al-Rifa’i Mosque was designed to complement the grandeur of Sultan Hassan Mosque while adding a more modern royal touch. It became the burial site of Egyptian royalty, including members of the Muhammad Ali dynasty, as well as the final resting place of King Farouk, the last king of Egypt.
